Native Australian Andy Blaikie didn't realise he would be discovering his roots in music when he came to Dublin in 2000.
From Perth, Andy’s influences included the likes of My Bloody Valentine and Ride when he formed experimental band Hazel Bionic ("Andy Blaikie's guitar and wide vocal range compliment each other in a way sleep and dreaming go together". SCOTT WOODSIDE - Xpress Magazine).
The move to Dublin has been a catalyst for the development of his musicianship particularly his song writing. The outcome sees Andy creating his own quirky style of catchy pop tunes tinged with country, blues and rock n' roll.
Striptease with Tambourine was Andy’s first Irish recording released in 2004 for promotional purposes. A self produced record with similarities to early Leonard Cohen, Scott Walker and Will Oldham, it gained Andy keen interest and respect on the Dublin song-writers scene.
In the summer of 2006 Andy Blaikie teamed up with the much respected Dublin musician and producer Sean Devitt to produce the bright and quirky forthcoming album Skip off and Sway. The album is full of toe tapping tunes including the infectious single Goodbye Lonely Nights, tunes that will appeal to listeners with many different musical preferences and opinions. Think early Bob Dylan or Johnny Cash, the Stones, T-Rex and Donovan all having a gentle appearance when listening to Skip off and Sway when it's released later in 2007.
Andy worked with Sean Devitt on drums, Kieran McEvoy on lead guitar, Ken Murphy on Bass and Ger Doyle on fiddle resulting in a confident, musical, lyrical album.
